Retrofitting for Energy Efficiency

Why Retrofit?

"I walked away from this conference with new ideas, excitement and motivation. Would encourage any Real Estate Manager to attend and listen to the leaders & experts in the industry!"Northern Facilities Manager, Corporate Services - Real Estate, AUSTRALIA POST

Retrofitting for Energy Efficiency provides a unique forum for everyone involved in the retrofitting of buildings to discuss how to get the most bang for your buck. Developed through extensive research with key stakeholders it is the only event borne from the industry for the industry.

Commercial building’s account for over half the carbon emissions in urban Australia. The more telling figure is that these emissions have grown 87% from 1990-2006. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions have become centrepieces to CSR statements and what private business is pushing for, Government is aiding with the easing of access to funding for retrofitting projects.

In Victoria and NSW, the Governments have provided roughly similar benefits including tax breaks, reduced loan rates and the capability of building owners to pass on project costs that create energy savings to tenants. In will be only a matter of time till other states follow suit.

Backing up their support of sustainable developments, both cities have ongoing retrofitting projects underway. In Melbourne the 10 year 1200 Buildings program moves from strength to strength and Sydney currently has 44 expressions of interest to reduce both energy and water use across the city.

Enabling all of this are the technology suppliers, expert consultant, architects and contractors that are enabling property owners and developers to get the biggest bang for their buck as they embark no their own retrofitting projects.

"The Retrofitting for Energy Efficiency conference proved to be a very interesting occasion to share and learn about energy efficiency oriented retrofits and renovations. We are all facing similar problems and obstacles, so the conference was a great opportunity to discuss different solutions and experiences, and allowed me to gain important insight of where the energy markets and technology are going. Although University buildings can be quite different to office buildings, the same basic principles can be applied to any building renovation project."Energy Management, UNIVERSITY OF NEW SOUTH WALES
